one point she had made 8 outs herself(5 on grounders hit back to her),
the others were K's.
Great Job Girls!!
DeDomenico and Knable singled as a part of a two-run fourth inning. Winning pitcher Erin Down struck out three and allowed just one hit.
10U Gators Update- 4/10/08
Alicia DeFlavis pitched a 5 inning shutout, no hitter where she struck out 14 of the 16 batters she faced. Awesome job, Alicia!!
West received a strong performance from senior pitcher Kristen Rienstra, who continues to battle a nagging shoulder injury. She tossed seven innings with five strikeouts to pick up the win.
"I know my team is always behind me," Rienstra said. "Even when the score is 0-0, I know they will always pull through for me. But for me, I'm just always in my zone. I always give 110 percent whenever I'm out on the field."
The lone blemish on Rienstra's day was a pinch-hit solo homer by Tori Obermaier in the fifth that cut the Lions' lead to 2-1. "Kristen just shut the door on them," Gurst said. "Sometimes you see a pitcher give up a home run and they let that bother them. But she stayed on her game."
